About the artwork

Gala Procession’s three forms pirouette in unison, creating an experience of place and performance. Referencing the discipline of ballet, the forms are rigid and robust while maintaining a delicate balance and weightlessness. The juxtaposition of structural steel layered against the natural elements of the park creates a striking dialogue emblematic of man against nature.

Gala Procession is a companion artwork to Gala Gateway. Both are permanent public art sculptures that trace inspiration from the natural elements of Canada and the dynamism of performing arts. The artworks create tension through their materials: rough and smooth, hard and soft, heavy and light.
