“Book me In!” Spend your Summer Reading, Playing and Learning at the Library

Entertainment and activities | July 4, 2022

Mississauga Library is the place to be this summer, with hundreds of free in-person programs, activities and live performances happening all season long. Whether you want to settle into a comfy chair with a newspaper, pick out books and movies as a family, tinker in the library makerspaces, or meet new people, you’re invited to rediscover your love for the library.

“Mississauga Library is a hub for community-building, learning and opportunity. They are inclusive and inviting places where you can spend time connecting with others or diving deeper into your own hobbies and interests,” said Rona O’Banion, Director, Mississauga Library. “Every week, you and your family can head to a local library for storytimes, LEGO clubs, robotics clubs, book clubs, conversation circles, family board games, game tournaments and more. Residents can also plan ahead for some of the library’s special programs, which include magic shows, bike safety and repair workshops, puppet shows, drumming workshops and reptile and animal shows.”

In addition, the library continues to offer a variety of free virtual events and programs. Whether it’s from your local park or your own living room, you can join in and enjoy virtual storytimes, online book clubs, newcomer programs and English conversation circles.

O’Banion added, “During the pandemic, the library was able to increase our offerings of virtual programs and activities. This summer, during July and August, we’re offering more than 30 free virtual programs that residents of all ages can enjoy. Providing in-person as well as virtual options allows residents to connect with the library and with others in the way that is most comfortable and enjoyable to them.”
