Calling All Filmmakers! Show Us How You’d Envision the Future of Mississauga

The City of Mississauga has launched a short film competition as part of its initial conversation with the community on the City's Official Plan Review.

Business and innovation | September 4, 2019

Are you an amateur or professional filmmaker looking for an opportunity to tell a story about your experience in Mississauga?

The City of Mississauga has launched a short film competition as part of its initial conversation with the community on the City’s Official Plan Review. The Official Plan guides future growth in the city and contains policies on the social, economic, cultural, natural and built environments. The review will consider the changing needs, opportunities and aspirations of the community.

If you live, work, play or learn in Mississauga, you’re invited to submit a short film (five minutes or less) that envisions the future of the city, focusing on everyday experiences, local matters or urban aspirations. Showcase your filmmaking talent to the City and industry professionals, while being part of the conservation.

Winners of the short film competition will have their film shown on the big screen at an upcoming City film event in partnership with Hot Docs on November 2. Other prizes include all-access passes to the 2020 Hot Docs International Documentary Festival and vouchers for filmmaking workshops with Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) and Charles Street Video.
