City of Mississauga and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board partner on new track and field facility in Malton

The City of Mississauga is proud to partner with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) to bring a new, top-notch track and field facility to Anaka Park in Malton.

The facility will include the construction of a new artificial turf soccer field and four-lane oval rubberized track at Mississauga’s Anaka Park, bordering the grounds of Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Secondary School. It will be available for both students and Mississauga residents to enjoy.

The long-awaited project recently received approval from the DPCDSB Board of Trustees and the Ministry of Education to move forward, and will now see DPCDSB and the City enter into a long-term, joint-use agreement where both parties will fund 50 per cent of the construction costs and ongoing operating expenses.

“The students of Ascension have been without any outdoor sports facilities for far too long. A joint use agreement between the City and the Board has finally made an all-weather soccer field and track a reality for students and for the community,” said Councillor Carolyn Parrish. “I look forward to a continuation of the amazing athletic awards the students of Ascension have achieved over the years!”

“The partnership with DPCDSB means the community is gaining a facility that it is necessary and that the community deserves,” said Jodi Robillos, Commissioner, Community Services. “To work once again with our colleagues at the school board means so much and is another great example of how we continue to work together for the betterment of students, families and the residents of Mississauga.”

The new facility is estimated to cost $3-million dollars and is in the pre-design phase – targeted to be complete in late 2024.
