The City of Mississauga is participating in a Partners in Project Green recycling collection drive in support of Waste Reduction Week, October 17 to 23. Throughout the week, City employees and residents can drop off their unwanted electronics and used clothing at no charge to Iceland Arena, City Hall, Mississauga Central Library or any one of the City’s 11 community centres.
“One of the City’s environmental initiatives is to reduce our waste as an organization,” said Brenda Osborne, Director of Environment at the City of Mississauga. “This type of program gives employees and residents the opportunity to dispose of items they no longer use, while finding ways to reuse and recycle materials so they don’t end up in our landfills.”
All week long, employees and residents can drop off the following recyclable items:
Waste Reduction Week in Canada is a national environmental campaign that builds awareness around issues of sustainable and responsible consumption. It encourages choice for more environmentally responsible products/services and promotes actions that divert waste from disposal and conserve natural resources.
