Mississauga isn’t just a busy city with lots of people; it’s also a place where many different animals live. This mix of city and nature makes it special. You can see animals like deer at Riverwood Conservancy and squirrels in the parks. There are all kinds of animals here, and it’s important we look after them.
Mississauga is perfect for wildlife because it has natural areas, rivers, creeks, green spaces, forests, and wetlands. You can spot birds like the Red-tailed Hawk and the Great Blue Heron or animals like beavers, mink or muskrats near the Credit River, and the water is full of fish like the Northern Pike and Salmon.
In places like Meadowvale Conservation Area, you might see deer, coyotes, and even red foxes. Smaller animals, like chipmunks and turtles, also live here. All these animals show how rich and varied Mississauga’s wildlife is.
To enjoy seeing these animals while keeping them safe, here are some simple rules to follow:
Here’s how you can help protect Mississauga’s wildlife:
Mississauga’s animals are a big part of what makes the city unique. By learning about them and treating them right, we can make sure they’re here for a long time. Helping with conservation and supporting green spaces are great ways to keep our animal neighbours safe.
