Sweater weather, colourful leaves and busy community centres are all part of the usual fall season in Mississauga. With fall registration just around the corner, now is the perfect time to plan a season filled with fitness, swimming, skating, arts, sports and other fun programs. Whether you’re looking to build a new skill, stay active, discover a new hobby or help your child learn something new, the City of Mississauga’s fall recreation and culture programs offer something for everyone.
Residents can begin browsing and bookmarking programs on August 4 and create wish lists in advance to register early, as many popular programs fill quickly. Registration opens for residents on August 11.
The City of Mississauga provides programs in safe, inclusive and welcoming spaces for all ages and abilities, and supporting different interests, skill levels and accessibility needs.
People of all ages and abilities, ranging from preschool-aged children to older adults.
Registration for fall recreation and culture programs and winter camps. The programs are delivered by qualified staff, with children’s programs guided by the HIGH FIVE® quality standard to help ensure positive, high-quality recreation experiences.
Browse programs, create wish lists and register through Active Mississauga. In-person registration is also available at community centres during service desk hours.
City programs offer more than just a weekly activity to add to a busy schedule. They provide opportunities to stay physically active and support overall health and well-being. Along with skill building, the programs also improve confidence and social skills.
Swim for Life lessons help participants develop swimming and water safety skills through step-by-step lessons for different ages and skill levels. Whether learning the basics or advancing existing skills, participants gain confidence in and around the water.
Aquatic Leadership courses provide a pathway for youth and young adults interested in becoming lifeguards, swim instructors or aquatic leaders. Participants develop leadership, teamwork and lifesaving skills while working toward certifications that can lead to future employment opportunities in recreation and aquatics.
This fall, participants can register for the new Intermediate First Aid course (formerly Standard First Aid), which includes CPR-C and AED certification. It provides comprehensive first aid training and prepares participants to respond to a wide range of emergencies, including allergic reactions, strokes, burns, fractures, seizures, diabetic emergencies and environmental injuries. The certification is also a prerequisite for Bronze Cross and an important step for those pursuing aquatic leadership certifications.
Preschool recreation and culture programs provide young children with opportunities to learn, move, explore and create in a fun, supportive and welcoming environment.
Winter camps provide fun, safe and supervised opportunities for children and youth to stay active with indoor and outdoor activities during the holiday break when school is out. Participants can explore a variety of interests while building confidence, creativity and social connections.
