Dispose of waste properly

It’s important to dispose of waste responsibly. If you’re throwing out fishing line, look for a fishing line recycling tube. These tubes are located near fishing areas at Lake Aquitaine and along our lakefront, so the fishing line doesn’t end up on our shores or harm wildlife.

Please take care when casting your line, as it could accidentally land where it might injure both people and wildlife, such as swans, ducks, and geese. When choosing fishing gear, look for sinkers and weights that are lead-free.

Lead is toxic. Weights, when left in the environment, can be toxic for wildlife. When you’re done fishing, it’s important to collect all your hooks, fishing lines, and any other equipment or packaging. If you come across an injured animal, don’t hesitate to call Animal Services at 905-896-5858.
