The Mississauga Library and One eRead Canada are offering unlimited eBook and audiobook access for a Canadian bestseller in April.

City services | April 20, 2026

Book lovers can join a nationwide reading experience this month at the Mississauga Library. The library has partnered with One eRead Canada, a digital book club that brings readers and libraries together across Canada.

During April, the library is offering unlimited eBook and audiobook checkouts of the award-winning novel “What I Know About You (Ce que je sais de toi) by Éric Chacour, translated from French by Pablo Strauss. This is a heartbreaking story of family and an impossible love, torn apart by secrets and tradition in late twentieth-century Cairo. Readers can borrow the book instantly through the library’s online catalogue to read or listen on a tablet, phone or audio device.

The program invites readers to journey behind the text with a free online talk with the author. The talk will be streamed live across Canada in English on the Mississauga Library’s YouTube channel.

Why it matters

Libraries often pay excessively high prices to provide eBooks and audiobooks for borrowing. One eRead Canada is a project of the Canadian Urban Libraries Council. During April, it provides free and unlimited access to a chosen eBook and audiobook. It helps show how libraries play a critical role in supporting Canadian publishers by helping readers find new stories and authors.

One eRead Canada’s annual campaign brings attention to high digital book prices and supports change. This work supports the Mississauga Library’s goal to encourage reading and make books more accessible, as outlined in the Library Future Directions Plan.
