Join the 10th annual Seed Library launch and get ready to cultivate your green thumb

Come and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mississauga Seed Library with a range of workshops, gardening experts and family-friendly activities. The workshops will take place at the Small Arms Inspection Building on Saturday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Not only does the program provide a satisfying experience for individuals and families to explore the pleasures of gardening, but it also aims to bolster local food systems, cultivate seed-saving literacy and encourage the use of locally adapted plants. Seed gardens can be grown either indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather conditions.

The Mississauga Library Seed Library form will open at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 24.
The Malton Library browsing collection will open on Saturday, March 2 and the Port Credit Library browsing collection will open on Saturday, March 9.
If you’re interested in contributing to the Seed Library, the library is now accepting seed donations. The Seed Library offers open-pollinated and non-GMO seeds to the public, including tomato, bean, and marigold seeds, among others, completely free of cost. At the end of the growing season, don’t forget to harvest your seeds and return some of them to the library. This will help keep the Seed Library self-sustaining.
