MiWay Adjusts Service on January 17 in Response to COVID-19

City services | January 11, 2022

MiWay will be suspending service on Routes 110 University Express and 76 City Centre-Subway in response to Transit Operator staff shortages due to COVID-19 and self-isolation requirements.

MiWay is temporarily suspending these routes as a result of an increasing number of staff that are absent due to COVID-19 (symptomatic and isolations).

These temporary service suspensions are in addition to previously suspended routes and will remain in effect until further notice.

With students expected to return to in-person learning next week, service to secondary schools will be restored on January 17.

“In order to deliver more reliable service where it is needed most, these changes have been temporarily implemented to free up resources for re-allocation,” said Geoff Marinoff, Director, Transit. “Once our staffing levels stabilize, we plan to restore these services when possible.”

MiWay will also launch other service changes on Jan. 17, 2022:

  • Routes 1/1C Dundas, 26-Burnhamthorpe and 7-Airport: reallocating available 60-foot articulated buses to these routes to address potential instances of overcrowding on these corridors.
  • Route 7 Airport will service Platform I at Westwood Square Transit Terminal.
  • Route 26 Burnhamthorpe will service Platform 3 at Kipling Bus Terminal.

Customers that are planning to ride MiWay can check on the status of routes by using MiWay’s trip planner at miway.ca.
