MiWay Improvements Deliver More Trips, Better Connections and 24-hour Service

City services | April 23, 2019

MiWay is delivering on its plans to improve service levels, build stronger corridors and add off-peak service hours. Starting April 29, MiWay customers will experience increased frequency and better connections on several routes across Mississauga.

Improvements include new weeknight 24-hour service on four routes: 1 – Dundas, 3 – Bloor, 7 – Airport and 19 – Hurontario, along with better connections to GO Transit, the relocation of a few bus stops and additional trips on some routes.

Other service improvements include:

42 – Derry

Route and all schedules revised to provide service via Derry Road and improve travel times. This route will no longer service Old Derry Road and Meadowvale Boulevard.

57 – Courtneypark

Route 57 will service Meadowvale Boulevard and Old Derry Road, ending at Renforth Station. This route will no longer service Islington Subway.

More frequent rush hour service (every 16-18 minutes) and new midday service added (every 20 minutes).

Route 57 will continue to service the Britannia Infield Loop during morning and evening rush hours.

Please note Route 57 is on detour until May 31, 2019 due to Britannia Road closure for watermain construction.

61 – Mavis

Revised weekend routing from Mavis Road will service Old Derry Road (not Derry Road) and Financial Drive.

Weekend schedule is revised.

Also on weekends, the revised Route 42 will service Derry Road between Creditview Road and Mavis Road.

Seasonal service changes include annual adjustments to weekday service on routes that travel to Sheridan College, Humber College and University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). The seasonal changes will affect routes 66 – McLaughlin, 101 – Dundas Express, 104 – Derry Express, 107 – Malton Express and 110 – University Express. These services will be restored in September.

The improvements reflect commitments to enhance customer experience as part of the MiWay Five Transit Service Plan (2016-2020). Under the plan, in 2019, MiWay will continue shifting to a grid network to provide more frequent buses and direct service on major routes.
