MiWay Responds to Ridership Demand by Introducing New Route 42A-Derry

City services | May 7, 2021

Starting Monday, May 10, MiWay will increase passenger-carrying capacity on the busiest sections of Derry Road. In response to ridership demand, MiWay will increase service with a new Route 42A-Derry.

  • Route 42A-Derry will travel westbound between Westwood Square Transit Terminal and Mavis Road on weekdays between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. This will add to the current Route 42-Derry service between Westwood Square Transit Terminal and Meadowvale Town Centre.
  • Customers at stops between Westwood Square Transit Terminal and Mavis Road will be provided with five-minute service frequencies using Route 42 and the new Route 42A.
  • Customers at stops between Mavis Road and Meadowvale Town Centre Transit Terminal will be provided with 10-minute service frequencies using Route 42.
  • There are no changes to weekend schedules on Route 42-Derry.

More information about these service changes is available at miway.ca/derry.

Customers are encouraged to use PRESTO as a contactless way to pay. With PRESTO, your transfer is active for two hours from when you first tap your card on the bus (and you don’t need a paper transfer).

It is recommended that customers try their best to restrict travel to essential trips under the provincewide Stay-at-Home Order. Wearing a face covering is still required under City by-law when riding MiWay, in all indoor public spaces, including inside transit terminal buildings.
