“Sample the Square” Event Welcomes Residents Back to Streetsville Village Square

Entertainment and activities | September 9, 2014

The City of Mississauga and the Streetsville Business Improvement Area (BIA) welcome the community back to Streetsville Village Square with fun activities.

“The public square is the traditional place that connects us to the arts, culture and heritage of our community,” said Ward 11 Councillor George Carlson. “Redeveloping Streetsville Village Square has improved the quality and function of this outdoor space.  It is now transformed into a vibrant, main public gathering space that will continue to attract residents and visitors to this location for many years to come.”

When:
Saturday, September 13, 2014
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Fun activities and entertainment for the entire family
1 p.m. – Welcome back to the square messages from Mayor McCallion and Ward 11 Councillor George Carlson

Where:
Streetsville Village Square
East side of the Main Street and Queen Street intersection

What:
The new square now includes energy efficient light, sound systems and accessible features creating a community focal point to relax, meet friends or attend local festivals, events and celebrations. The project was designed with community input to appropriately place the cenotaph in the centre of the square and to complement the community’s heritage and village history.

“Everyone will now be able to experience this great outdoor space, urban shopping and entertainment destination,” added Carlson. “I thank Streetsville businesses and residents for their patience during construction.”
