Why wait for snow? Know a senior or person with a disability who needs help with snow clearing?

City services | August 7, 2014

The City’s Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program opens August 12 for older adults and people with disabilities to help clear snow at the end of driveways during road plowing.

“The program is open early to reach as many people as possible with this service which helps people live independently,” said Bob Levesque, Manager, Works Maintenance & Operations. “The service runs after each snow plowing.”

Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program

This program runs from November 24, 2014 to March 13, 2015. The windrow snow clearing service will plow a three metre (10 feet) wide area at the end of the driveway for one car to pass. The service may take up to 36 hours after a snow storm and bare pavement cannot be guaranteed.

Who is Eligible?

Residents who are 65 years and older in 2014 and people with disabilities can apply for the program. The cost of the program is either $200 or free if the applicant meets financial assistance criteria.

How to Apply?

Applications for the Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program are available online or at all community centres, the Recreation Customer Service Centre and the Mississauga Seniors’ Centre. Visit the City’s windrow web page for details on the program and for an application.
