Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program

The Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program is a City-wide program to clear snow windrows at the end of the driveway. The program is offered to seniors (65 years or older) and individuals who are physically disabled as verified by a regulated health professional. The cost of the program is $200 or free depending on whether the applicant meets financial assistance criteria.

Applications will be received at Community Centres, Mississauga Seniors' Centre or the Recreation Customer Service Centre from Monday, August 10, 2015 until 9 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015. The completed and signed form with supporting documentation must be submitted in person.

The program will be in effect from November 30, 2015 to March 11, 2016.

Application Process

In order to apply you must be a resident of Mississauga, a senior (65 years or older in 2015, i.e. born in 1950 or earlier) or an individual who is physically disabled, as verified by a regulated health professional. The maximum number of participants is 300.

The applicant must meet all of the following conditions:
  • No abled-bodied person is living at the same residence where driveway windrow snow clearing assistance is required.
  • The applicant does not live in a high-rise, multi-unit building, condominium or within a commercial property.
  • The applicant does not reside on a private road.
  • Only one person per address can participate in the program.

Applicants are required to bring the following documentation when applying for the service (must be provided in person):

  • A completed application form.
  • Proof of residency in Mississauga (recent utility bill, lease agreement, driver’s licence).
  • If 65 or older in 2015, proof of age: birth certificate, driver’s licence, passport).
  • If physically disabled (for residents 64 years and younger): proof of physical disability verified by a regulated health professional (Health Assessment Form, accessible parking permit, TransHelp Acceptance Letter) .
  • For free program - current, official documentation that shows total individual or combined family net income, using original statements/documents outlined in the eligibility requirements for financial assistance.
