The Diabetes Prevention and Wellness Fairs are part of a research initiative focused on early screening and detection of prediabetes  and diabetes in the community and connecting individuals to primary care and community support and health promotion program.
This initiative has been funded by the Network for Healthy Populations at the University of Toronto, and is organized by the Prevent Diabetes and Save Lives Lab at the University of Toronto Mississauga, led by Dr. Ghazal Fazli, from the Department of Geography, Geomatics and the Environment, in collaboration with community organizations in the Peel region, including Roots Community Services Inc., the Black Health and Social Services Hub, Indus Community Services, Punjabi Community Health Services, Dixie-Bloor Neighbourhood Centre, Summerville Family Health Team, Wellfort Community Health Services, and LAMP Community Health Centre.
