Mississauga is proud to be a leader in sustainability, as the first municipality in Ontario to use goats for natural invasive species management. As a reminder to those who want to interact with the goats, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recommends:
- Immunocompromised persons and infants under one should avoid touching any animals.
- Children under five should not come in contact with young ruminants (ex: goats) or their immediate environment.
Local environmental organizations on-site include:
- Blooming Boulevards
- City of Mississauga Forestry
- Credit Valley Conservation Authority
- Goats in the City
- Invading Species Awareness Program
- Invasive Phragmites Control Centre
- Invasive Species Centre
- Ontario Invasive Plant Council
