Overview
Mississauga’s downtown area is a rapidly growing community. By 2041, the population in this area is expected to double, making it one of the fastest growing parts of the city. Recognizing this growing need, the 2024 Future Directions Plans identified Cooksville as a key opportunity for development.
Cooksville currently does not have a community centre. To support the growing needs of the community, the City is exploring an opportunity to build a new community centre and library in the area.

City staff will work with an architect to determine the most efficient size and configuration of a facility that can be accommodated on the site. No final decisions have been made regarding location, size or design.
From 2026 to 2028 the City will design the Cooksville Community Centre and Library so it is ready for construction. We will work with the consultant team to determine the facility amenities, size and design of the new community centre and library that will service the community and surrounding neighbourhoods. Construction costs are not yet budgeted.
Public engagement
In June 2026 residents are invited to take an engagement survey and provide feedback on the Cooksville Community Centre and Library’s new design. The survey will help identify what indoor and outdoor amenities that are important to the community.
A community presentation and information session will take place in early 2027 where further details will be provided.
