Overview
We’re conducting a review and inventory of cultural infrastructure and creative spaces across the city to ensure they serve our diverse and growing city.
We want to hear from everyone involved in Mississauga’s cultural and creative sectors, including:
- Artists
- Businesses
- Business associations
- Cultural organizations
- Creative suppliers
- Creative workers
- Educators
- Event hosts
- Tourism operators
What’s working, what’s missing and what’s next? We will use this information to align public, private, not-for-profit and community efforts to support, improve and expand cultural infrastructure and creative spaces across the city.
What are cultural infrastructure and creative spaces?
Cultural infrastructure includes buildings, structures and spaces where people gather, share each other’s cultures and create new ones together. They include museums, studios, heritage sites, streets and more.
Creative spaces support creative work. These spaces include co-working spaces, innovation labs, maker spaces, and educational or business environments.

About this study
Conducting the cultural infrastructure and creative spaces study was a key recommendation of the 2024 Future Directions Culture Plan.
We will use engagement insights from our survey, focus groups, and shared inventory data to develop an implementation and funding strategy by the spring of 2026. This information will then inform the City’s future cultural strategy and projects.
