The School Streets pilot project is an approved action (action 90) in the Vision Zero Action Plan. It will help Mississauga reach our goal of zero fatal and serious collisions on the road network.
2025 pilot
Corliss Public School participated in a 7-week pilot in September and October 2025. The project included a road closure along Corliss Crescent. Before the fall pilot, a 1-day soft launch took place in June in coordination with a Family Fun Day at Corliss Public School.
The pilot took place at Corliss Public School from September 2 to October 20, 2025. Corliss Crescent was closed between Darla Drive and Teeswater Road Monday to Friday during the following times:
- 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. for morning drop-off
- 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. for afternoon pickup

As part of the project evaluation, a research team at Toronto Metropolitan University conducted traffic counts, observations and surveys in the area in May 2025. Additional data was collected in fall 2025 to measure differences in travel behaviours before and after implementation of the School Street. Results will be published to this page once they become available.
2022 pilot
Three Mississauga schools participated in the first School Streets pilot project in 2022:
- Hillside Public School
- St. Alfred Catholic Elementary School
- Brian W. Fleming Public School
The project included closures along Kelly Road and Havenwood Drive:
The pilot took place at Hillside Public School from May 9 to 27, 2022. Kelly Road was closed between Constable Road and Brookhurst Road Monday to Friday during the following times:
- 8:15 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. for morning drop-off
- 2:30 to 3:20 p.m. for afternoon pickup

After the pilot ended, a survey found that the majority of community members supported the initiative. We also found that School Streets were an effective tool for increasing active school transportation.
