Master heating installer
A master heating installer plans and installs and supervises the planning and installation of heating, cooling and ventilation systems. There are three classes of master heating installer licences:
- Class A is for installing, adjusting and repairing oil-burning and gas-burning equipment used to heat or cool a space
- Class B is for installing, adjusting and repairing steam and hot water heating systems, as well as Class A work
- Class C is for installing, adjusting and repairing all types of heating, cooling and ventilation systems, including Class A and Class B work
Requirements
- Proof you are 18 years of age or older
- Government-issued photo identification
- A valid Certificate of Qualifications issued by the Province of Ontario through Skilled Trades Ontario
- Proof of general liability insurance showing a minimum of $2 million coverage, which coverage is endorsed to indemnify and save harmless the City
- Letter of Employment from a contractor licensed by the City of Mississauga verifying the person is employed by a licensed heating contractor
Licence fees
A new licence costs $255.21.
A licence renewal costs $220.04.
Heating contractor
A heating contractor does the work of installing, adjusting and repairing heating, cooling and ventilation equipment of any kind. They must be or employ at least one licensed master heater installer on a regular, full-time basis.
Requirements
- Proof you are 18 years of age or older
- Articles of incorporation or corporate profile report (not required for sole proprietorships)
- Business name registration or franchise agreement
- Government-issued photo identification
- Certificate of Insurance showing a minimum $2 million liability coverage with the City of Mississauga listed as an additional insured
- Letter of authorization appointing an agent signed by a director or owner to act on their behalf, if required
