Road and pavement resurfacing

The City has a Road Resurfacing Program which replaces asphalt on the road and repairs curbs and sidewalks.

We use a pavement information system to decide which streets will be resurfaced each year. The system looks at pavement condition and age, traffic volumes, and previous maintenance and work.

If your street has been selected for resurfacing, you will receive a hand-delivered  Pre-Construction Notice and a second more detailed Construction Notice approximately two weeks before construction begins. The work on each street will take about six to eight weeks, weather permitting. As noted in the Construction Notice, construction will take place in phases.

You can check the streets which will be resurfaced this year by using our current construction map. We may add or remove streets from Road Resurfacing Program at any time.

Driveway repairs, repaving and widening

If you’re planning to repair, repave or widen you driveway, call 311 (905-615-4311 outside City limits) to see if we’re due to resurface your street. You should avoid any construction until after the City has finished work.

Apply to change your driveway or curb width

While the City’s resurfacing your street you can complete an Access Modification Application Form to change the access to your driveway boulevard or widen the curb cut.

Your completed application form must be submitted within two business days of delivery of the Road Resurfacing Program Notice and meet approvals stated in the Zoning By-law.

You’ll be charged a fee based on the amount of work needed, plus an administration fee.

No widening can be done on patterned concrete, lock stone driveways or streets with ditches.
