The Council of the Corporation of the City of Mississauga will hold a public meeting on May 14, 2014, as required by section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997.
Council is required under the Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow interested stakeholders an opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2014 Development Charge By-law, the Background Study, the proposed rates and policies to be applied city-wide.
Following the May 14, 2014 public meeting it is proposed that the Development Charge By-law will be presented for approval at the June 11, 2014 Council meeting. The proposed By-law will replace Mississauga Development Charges By-law 0342-2009.
Development Charges are collected as a result of new development, and are the primary source of funding growth related capital expenditures within the parameters of the Development Charges Act, 1997 and its corresponding regulations. Copies of the 2014 Development Charges Background Study and the proposed 2014 Development Charge By-law will be available at the Office of the City Clerk after noon on Tuesday April 29th, 2014. All written submissions should be directed to the Office of the City Clerk Attention: Carmela Radice, no later than 12:00 noon on Wednesday May 7, 2014. Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting will be considered by Council prior to the enactment of the proposed 2014 Development Charges By-law.
