Significant Weather Event

For operational purposes, the Works Operations and Maintenance Division may declare a Significant Weather Event in accordance with Regulation 239/02, Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways of the Province’s Municipal Act.

This means that:

  • The hours of winter maintenance operations will be extended to address a prolonged winter storm.
  • Service level timing starts after the declaration is lifted instead of when the snow stops.
