Apply for a limousine licence

You must have a licence to own or operate a limousine in Mississauga.


Limousine driver’s licence

Your licence expires every year on your birthday. A renewal notice will be sent to the email address on file. If no email is available, it’ll be mailed to you.

Requirements

  • Proof you’re 18 years of age or older
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
  • Ontario driver’s record completed in the last 30 days
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days
  • Name of the Mississauga-licensed limousine company you’re working for
  • A photo of you, taken by us if you apply in person or uploaded by you if you apply online, that:
    • Is clear, sharp and in focus with no shadows or glare
    • Has your face and shoulders centred in the photo, looking at the camera with a neutral expression

Licence fees

A new limousine driver’s licence costs $218.91.

A licence renewal is $198.37.

Limousine Class A or B owner’s licence

  • Limousine Class A licence is for a limousine with seats for at least 5 people including the driver
  • Limousine Class B licence is for a limousine with seats for between 5 and 8 people including the driver

Your owner’s licence expires every year on September 30. A renewal notice will be sent to the email address on file. If no email is available, it’ll be mailed to you.

Requirements

  • Business name registration, articles of incorporation or corporate profile report, if applying as a company
  • Proof that the location of your limousine business complies with the Zoning By‑law, such as a Zoning Certificate of Occupancy
  • Schedule of hourly fare rates
  • Motor vehicle permit from the Ministry of Transportation
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days
  • Lease agreement, if your vehicle is leased
  • Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • Motor vehicle liability insurance card and one of the following:
    • Ministry of Transportation vehicle inspection report that shows your vehicle has been accepted within 60 days
    • Safety standards certificate issued within 60 days
    • City of Toronto vehicle inspection report/livery cab fitness report issued within 60 days

Your vehicle must be inspected at the Mobile Licensing Office at 950 Burnhamthorpe Road West before your licence can be issued. Book an appointment for your vehicle inspection.


Licence fees

A new Limousine Class A or Class B owner’s licence costs $543.34.

A licence renewal costs $459.49.

In person

  1. Complete the Owner Licence Application, Driver/Operator Licence Application or Licence Renewal Application.
  2. Gather the required documents and approvals.
  3. Book an appointment for a new licence or licence renewal.
  4. Bring your application and supporting documents to your appointment.
  5. Pay the licence fees.

If you’re an owner, we can inspect your vehicle if you bring it with you to your appointment.

By mail

Mail your completed Owner Licence Application, Driver/Operator Licence Application or Licence Renewal Application, the required documents and a cheque payable to the City of Mississauga in the amount of the licence fee to:
