With more than 2,000 parking infractions issued to date, the City’s new Citywide Winter Parking Restriction is making snow clearing safer and more efficient in Mississauga.

When it snows, vehicles parked on the road can prevent City snow-clearing crews from being able to clear roads and residential driveway windrows. This makes it difficult for emergency vehicles, public transit and residents to travel and impacts everyone’s safety.
To make snow clearing safer and more efficient, the City introduced a new penalty of $150 for those who park their vehicles on the road when the City declares a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction. This winter season, the City of Mississauga has already issued 2,409 parking infractions to date.
The City will declare a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction when crews need to plow roadways. When a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction is declared, on-street parking is not allowed, except in areas identified by signage (e.g. 15-hour maximum). On-street parking on statutory holidays and religious observances is also prohibited. Temporary parking permits and residential parking permits will not be issued and current ones will be suspended. The City will declare when the Citywide Winter Parking Restriction has been lifted.
During a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction, the City actively monitors vehicles parked on the street using newly installed cameras on snow-clearing equipment and plows. These cameras record the locations of parked vehicles, which are shared with Parking Enforcement. Parking Enforcement also co-ordinates their patrols with the City’s snow-clearing routes to respond to cars parked on the street that could obstruct snow removal.
Residents can also report parking violations by calling 311 or using the online portal.
