More than Chocolate and Teddy Bears: Make this Valentine’s Day a Special One with Plenty of Activities around Mississauga

Entertainment and activities | February 9, 2023

Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for people to show their love to the ones they care for in different ways. In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, there are a variety of things to do in Mississauga – including outdoor and indoor activities with your Valentine in our “lovely” city.

Skate at Mississauga Celebration Square: Is there a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than a romantic skating date? At Celebration Square, there’s free ice-skating between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. (weather permitting). Ice skate rentals and sharpening services are available at a cost for those who don’t have the equipment. You can also cozy up at the heated patios with a hot beverage in your hand and enjoy your very own romantic comedy moment with your partner.

Take a romantic stroll: Take your loved one(s) for a walk, especially around dusk when the sun sets, at one of Mississauga’s many parks or trails as they turn into winter wonderlands at this time of the year. Find a park near you: mississauga.ca/events-and-attractions/parks/find-a-park/

Enjoy a tasty meal or drink: If you don’t want to spend the day outdoors and prefer an intimate date at a cozy spot, choose from hundreds restaurants, cafes, pubs or bars around the city for a night-out. Indulge in various dishes from all around the world, try something new or enjoy an old favourite. Find a local place to eat or drink: mississaugamade.ca

Take in some local history and heritage: Spend the day at a museum, marvel at the arts, explore, and learn something new together. There’s an interactive exhibit, The Ones We Met: Inuit Traditional Knowledge and the Franklin Expedition, at Bradley Museum. This travelling exhibit, developed by the Canadian Museum of History, in collaboration with the Inuit Heritage Trust, will be on display until April 16, 2023. The Ones We Met shares the stories of Inuit in Northern Canada with an audio-visual station and animated map. As a bonus, there’s no entrance fee to the exhibit.

Attend a show: When it comes to arts and cultural events, Mississauga is nothing short of activities in any time of the year. If you and your partner are interested in performing arts, there are two great shows that you can catch on weekend just in time for Valentine’s Day.
