The New Youth Council by the Museums of Mississauga

The New Youth Council welcomes all Mississauga youth between the ages of 15 and 21 for weekly collaborate on creative projects with the Museums of Mississauga. Youth will have opportunities to:

  • Get behind the scenes access to their community museum
  • Learn about local history and how to handle historic artifacts
  • Design and lead activities at special events at the Museums and Small Arms Inspection Building
  • Initiate and carry out community service projects such as donation drives for homeless youth
  • Go on field trips
  • Collaborate on a final project of their choosing, such as designing a book or a large scale art work

Projects are youth-led and driven by the members of the Youth Council. As part of their experience, youth will receive mentorship from museum professionals and develop leadership skills. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone considering a career in the arts, culture or heritage fields and a great way to make new friends and build your network!

Meetings are help every Thursday from 4pm to 6pm, September through June. TNYC meeting location varies from week to week and can be held online, in downtown Mississauga, at the Museums, or the Small Arms Inspection Building. Stay tuned for more information.
