Status of parks, trails and bridges closed for repair

Bridge connecting the Riverside trail to the island

  • Status: Closed, repairs underway
  • Detours:
    • Adjacent trail
  • Planning and Design underway. Project being handled by TRCA. Expected completion in May 2026.

Erin Mills Parkway and Burnhamthorpe Road West

  • Status: Partial closure
  • Despite best efforts, a small section of the Sawmill Valley Trail between Erin Mills Parkway and Burnhamthorpe Road West remains closed. The river has carved a new path over the original trail, making simple repairs insufficient. Final trail connections and stream work is still under review.

Emergency trail closure – Sawmill Valley Trail at Burnhamthorpe Road

A portion of the Sawmill Valley Trail at Burnhamthorpe Road is closed until further notice due to structural damage.

August 28, 2025

This afternoon, the City of Mississauga closed an approximately 330-metre-long portion of the Sawmill Valley Trail at Burnhamthorpe Road, between Erin Mills Parkway and Sawmill Valley Drive. 

The closure is necessary due to structural damage that was discovered by staff while conducting a regular inspection. To ensure public safety, this portion of the trail will be closed until further notice. In the coming weeks, staff will assess the issue to determine next steps and a plan to develop options and approximate timing for repairs and reinstatement of the trail. A detour is in place.

Residents are advised to avoid the area and use other sections of the trail or try out a new trail close by. Mississauga is home to more than 390 kilometres worth of trails that are waiting to be explored. Other nearby trails include:
