There are two levels of signal timing designed to improve flow.
Intersection signal timing
Timings developed for traffic signals are based on Ministry Of Transportation Ontario Traffic Guidelines.
- Minimum timing intervals
- Pedestrian timing
- Clearance intervals for amber and all red
- Left turn signal timing
- Bike signal timing
Network signal timing
Timing designed to help traffic flow through multiple traffic signals on a section of the roadway.
Network signal timing changes based on time of day and traffic volume. Timing is reviewed daily and adjustments are made when needed
