City services | September 29, 2025
Canada Post workers, who are members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), have launched a strike. Here’s some information about alternate options for accessing City services during this disruption.
Residents are reminded that property taxes, parking tickets, and other fines must still be paid by set due dates.
Effective on the first day of the strike and for the duration of the strike, Animal Services will not mail out pet renewal notices.
New pet licence tags purchased online will not be mailed. Visit Mississauga Animal Services at 735 Central Pkwy W. to pick up your tag in person. Renewal receipts and tags will be mailed once the strike is over.
Legislated Public Notices will be provided by personal service (to be determined by the size of the distribution.)
Public Notices are provided online.
Committee of Adjustment Public Notices can be viewed online.
Mississauga Library’s Interlibrary loan program is paused during the strike.
As a result of the Canada Post labour disruption, due dates for items borrowed through the Homebound Service program have been extended to the end of October.
Mobile Licensing will not mail out renewal notices.
The public is still responsible to pay any fines on set due dates.
The following methods of payment are available:
Residents are also encouraged to consider:
Overdue notices are typically mailed to property owners at the beginning of October. Please note that this mailing may be delayed by the current Canada Post strike. Billing information, instalment amounts, and account balances can be viewed online at mississauga.ca/tax under view property tax information or by contacting 311. Payment options can be viewed here.
Despite the Canada Post strike, property owners are still required to pay their property taxes owing in order to avoid additional late payment charges. The 2025 final tax bills instalment due dates have now passed and property taxes owing for 2025 should be paid in full.
During a postal strike, payments by cheque can be made at your financial institution or dropped off in the drop boxes at City Hall.
Property owners who would like to enroll in online billing (eBilling) rather than receiving paper copies of bills in the future can register here. Please note that e-billing will take effect for the next scheduled billing.
Further information will be provided at a later date if the strike impacts our ability to send interim tax bill notices.
The public is still responsible for paying Penalty/Parking Infraction Notices on pre-set due dates.
The following methods of payment are available:
Payments that have been approved by Accounts Payable and payments where vendors have arranged for cheque pickup will still be processed during the strike.
Cheque pickups are available between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the location we’ve communicated to you. Please bring your ID to show when picking up your cheque.
If you haven’t arranged for cheque pickup, please email ap.central@mississauga.ca to arrange it. Otherwise, we will mail cheques after the strike ends.
You can also sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer. This service is easy to register for, free and secure to do business with the City.
The City will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. For more information about City services facing impacts from the Canada Post strike, call 311 (905-615-4311 outside city limits). For updates on the strike, visit canadapost.ca.
