Refreshment vehicle driver’s licence
Requirements
- Proof you’re at least 18 years old
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
- Ontario driver’s record completed in the last 30 days
- Certificate of medical fitness issued in the last 30 days proving you’re fit to drive and free from communicable diseases
- Letter of potential employment from a licensed refreshment vehicle owner
- A photo of you, taken by us if you apply in person or uploaded by you if you apply online, that:
- Is clear, sharp and in focus with no shadows or glare
- Has your face and shoulders centred in the photo, looking at the camera with a neutral expression
Licence fees
A refreshment vehicle driver’s licence costs $198.37.
The fee to renew your licence is $192.74.
Refreshment vehicle owner’s licence
Requirements
- Proof that you’re at least 18 years old
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
- Business name registration, articles of incorporation or corporate profile report, if applying as a company
- Registered declaration of partnership, if applying as a registered partnership
- Motor vehicle permit from the Ministry of Transportation
- Ministry of Transportation vehicle inspection report that shows your vehicle has been accepted within 60 days
- Lease agreement, if your vehicle is leased
- Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage endorsed to the City of Mississauga
- Health clearance from the Region of Peel
- Technical Safety Standard Authority (TSSA) propane inspection, if applicable
- List of suppliers, if applicable
Your vehicle must be inspected at the Mobile Licensing Office at 950 Burnhamthorpe Road West before your licence can be issued. Book an appointment for your vehicle inspection.
Operating outside of parks
Food truck owners operating outside of park locations must also submit:
- Written consent from the owner of the property where the food truck will operate, including location details and permitted hours of operation
- Site plan showing the location of the food truck and all buildings, driveways and parking lots
- Written consent from the local Business Improvement Association, if any
- Written consent from the Commissioner of Community Services to operate on or near a City-owned property
