City Forestry work

August 2025
The project is substantially complete. At this stage, you may see the contractor on site from time to time addressing deficiencies, completing final restoration works and preparing for final landscape completion. This is typical of all construction projects. Any work identified as deficiencies is performed at no additional cost to the City.
Work being completed by General Contractor

The General Contractor is scheduled to address all deficiencies by the end of August, weather permitting. As hot, dry temperatures are not conducive to sod installation, sod is required to be installed during cooler temperatures.
Work to be completed by City Forestry
- All plantings, including tree and median plantings
Forestry is scheduled to start the planting work in September once the weather is more conducive to planting.

Ongoing work
The following construction on Rathburn Road is underway:
- Curb and gutter construction
- Cycle track construction
- Noise wall installation on both sides of Rathburn Road
- Traffic signals installation
- Street lighting installation
- Catch basin relocation (work is almost complete)
New work beginning
Road rehabilitation work from Dixie Road to Burnhamthorpe Road East will begin the last week of May. It will be completed in stages, as shown in the construction phasing plan, and will include:
- Grinding of existing asphalt pavement
- Placement of granular material
- Paving of base asphalt
January 2024
Construction is advancing as planned. Most of the boulevard work between Dixie Road and Fieldgate Drive has been completed. This includes:
- Curb installation
- Electrical conduits installation
- Driveway apron replacements
- Boulevard grading to accommodate the new cycle tracks
- Sidewalk replacements
The construction phasing plan for the entire project includes:
- Construction activity on Rathburn Road East, from Dixie Road to Fieldgate Drive, between Q4 2023 and Q2 2024
- Noise wall installation at the intersection of Rathburn Road East and Fieldgate Drive between Q1 2024 and Q2 2024
- Replacement of the culvert crossing over Etobicoke Creek between Q1 2024 and Q2 2024
- Construction activity at the intersection of Rathburn Road East and Fieldgate Drive in Q2 2024
- Construction activity on Rathburn Road East, from Fieldgate Drive to Burnhamthorpe Road, between Q2 2024 and Q4 2024
- Construction activity at the intersection of Rathburn Road East and Ponytrail Drive in Q4 2024

The construction phasing plan is tentative and may change due to weather and unforeseen factors.
