Tomken Twin Pad Arena Redevelopment

Tomken Twin Pad Arena will be undergoing lifecycle replacements, general facility improvements, and an overall refresh in 2023 to meet the needs of the community.

Overview

Originally built in 1991, Tomken Twin Pad Arena has served Ward 3 residents and the surrounding community for the last 30 and more years. Various elements of the building have reached the end of their life span and require repair or replacement.

Objectives

Some of the facility lifecycle repairs and replacements include:

  • Repair of roof assembly and roof components
  • Wall panels and wall flashings
  • Replace/repair exterior windows and doors
  • Building envelope repairs
  • Mechanical and HVAC equipment replacement
  • Building automation system replacement
  • Refrigeration equipment replacement
  • Resurface asphalt parking lot

Other improvements planned:

  • Apply a metal coating on the roof and repaint the exterior wall panels an updated colour
  • Expose existing and original wood decking/ceiling in both arenas Improve arena lighting levels
  • Improve accessibility by installing sliding doors at main entrance and into arenas
  • Add a public art piece
  • Install new floor tile and paint vestibule
  • Add Exterior Building Signage
