It’s time to dust off your helmets, pump up your tires and oil those chains because June is Bike Month! To celebrate, the City is offering cycling activities all month long. Events include getting a bike tune-up, learning about cycling safety, community rides, participating in the bike challenge and cycling to school. No matter your skill level, cycling is a great way to exercise outdoors, boost your mood and explore the city.
The City is offering free bike checks and tune-ups from a bike mechanic. Checks can include the basic ABC (air, brakes/bell and chain/crank arm) and other basic repair needs like flat tire fixes.
Every Tuesday, keep an eye out for the blue Mississauga pop-up tent at the following locations:
The City is hosting two interactive workshops at Mississauga Valley Community Centre about cycling safety. During the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to practise your skills.

Community Rides are free, guided bike rides that take place in various neighbourhoods. They run every two weeks until October. They allow riders to get more comfortable on their bike, experience Mississauga’s cycling infrastructure and meet others in the community.
The Bike Challenge is a fun way to get active while giving back to your community. To participate, simply log the kilometres you ride on your bike from now until Saturday, September 27. Your entry will be added to the total. For every 50 kilometres you log, the City will plant one tree to count towards the One Million Trees program. Log your distance.
Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel District School Board are celebrating Bike to School Week until Friday, June 27. Biking to school is great way to get active, boost your mood, improve your health and reduce your carbon footprint. If you live too far away, consider loading your bike on a MiWay bus for part of the route and biking the rest of the way. Bike racks on MiWay buses can carry two regular bicycles with wheels that are at least 41 centimetres (16 inches) in diameter.
The City has a School Walking Routes Program to encourage walking, cycling, scootering or any other form of active transportation to get to and from school. Use the map created for your school to plan your route to school.
Whether you prefer wooded trails, waterfront views or riding your bike as your main form of transportation, there’s a trail for everyone. Use Mississauga’s cycling map to find trails and new ideas on where to cycle.
