Ice cream truck driver’s licence
Requirements
- Proof you’re at least 18 years old
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
- Ontario driver’s record completed in the last 30 days
- Certificate of medical fitness issued in the last 30 days proving you’re fit to drive and free from communicable diseases
- Letter of employment from a licensed ice cream truck owner
- A photo of you, taken by us if you apply in person or uploaded by you if you apply online, that:
- Is clear, sharp and in focus with no shadows or glare
- Has your face and shoulders centred in the photo, looking at the camera with a neutral expression
Licence fees
A new licence costs $198.37.
A licence renewal costs $192.74.
Ice cream truck owner’s licence
Requirements
- Proof that you’re at least 18 years old
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
- Business name registration, articles of incorporation or corporate profile report, if applying as a company
- Registered declaration of partnership, if applying as a registered partnership
- Motor vehicle permit from the Ministry of Transportation
- Lease agreement, if your vehicle is leased
- Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage endorsed to the City of Mississauga
- Safety standards certificate
- Health clearance from the Region of Peel
Your ice cream truck must be inspected at the Mobile Licensing Office at 950 Burnhamthorpe Road West before your licence can be issued. Book an appointment for your vehicle inspection.
Licence fees
A new licence costs $463.99.
A licence renewal costs $454.99.
