Tax rebate for residents with low income

The City offers property tax rebates for eligible seniors (65 years and older) with low incomes and people with disabilities with low incomes.

Who can apply

You may be eligible for a property tax rebate if either you or your spouse meet the following conditions:

Application deadline

You must submit an application every year. The deadline to apply is December 31 of each year.

The City will not accept applications for previous years, as per the tax rebate by-law.

How to apply

Submit the completed tax rebate application form and supporting documentation:

  • Email: tax@mississauga.ca
  • Mail: Mississauga Taxes, 300 City Centre Drive, Floor 11, Mississauga, ON L5B 3C1
  • Drop box locations:
    • Outside the Civic Centre, to the right of the North Entrance on Princess Royal Drive
    • Inside the Civic Centre, on the ground floor near the Welcome Desk

If you receive GIS benefits, you must include a copy of your previous year’s Statement of Old Age Security (T4A (OAS) slip), showing your OAS payments, including the amount in Box 21.

Other rebate programs

If you qualify for the property tax rebate, you automatically qualify for the stormwater charge subsidy.

If you own a single-family home, the subsidy amount will be credited to your Region of Peel water bill

If you own a condominium, the City will mail you a cheque.

If you’re at least 65 years old and earn low to moderate income, you can apply for Ontario’s Senior Homeowners’ Property Tax Grant program.
