Environment Canada has upgraded Peel’s winter storm warning to orange with upwards of 40 cm of snow expected.
The City of Mississauga has declared a Significant Weather Event. The City is actively responding to this weekend’s winter weather. Crews across multiple City departments are working to maintain essential services, support public safety, and address weather related impacts as they arise. Where possible, give crews the space to clear the roads and respond to emergencies.
City crews will continue monitoring conditions and will provide updates as needed.
Due to the inclement weather and heavy snow, the following City of Mississauga facilities will be closed on January 25, 2026:
All libraries, cultural facilities (museums, Small Arms Inspection Building) and office buildings, including City Hall will be closed for regular business hours today. All community centres and arenas will close at noon.
Paramount Fine Foods Centre will remain open for the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
All programs and classes at community centres and arenas will be cancelled as of noon today. Where possible, cancelled classes and bookings will be rescheduled to a later date. Those with facility bookings will be contacted. Scheduled rentals may be cancelled without penalty by contacting the Customer Service Centre at 905-615-4100 or by email at facility.rentals@mississauga.ca.
The City is recommending avoiding using playgrounds and play structures at City parks. Outdoor rinks will remain closed until safe to open.
Online services will remain available.
MiWay buses may encounter delays or cancellations due to the weather. If you’re using MiWay today, please visit the MiWay Service Updates page here for information on route delays. Please dress for the weather and give yourself extra time when planning your trip.

A Citywide Winter Parking Restriction will be in place by 2 p.m. today. When a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction is declared, on-street parking is not allowed, except in areas identified by signage (e.g. 15-hour maximum). On-street parking on statutory holidays and religious observances is also prohibited. Temporary parking permits and residential parking permits will not be issued and current ones will be suspended. All street parking including temporary and monthly permits are suspended, except in areas where street signage explicitly permits parking, until further notice.
Sign up to receive an email alert when the City declares a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction. Follow @MississaugaSnow on X for timely snow-clearing updates. Call 311 (905-615-4311 if outside city limits) for questions related to the City’s snow clearing operations.
Several resources and support services are available to vulnerable individuals in Mississauga. The Peel Street Outreach Team provides on-location services, including hygiene products, food, and referrals to shelters and other supportive services.
If a resident is in need or worried about someone, they can call the Region of Peel Street Help Line at 1-877-848-8481. The helpline is available 24 hours a day to support the unhoused.
The City is strongly encouraging residents to stay off roads as the storm continues, if possible. However, if travel is necessary, please exercise caution. Stay alert when using our roads whether you’re walking, cycling, taking transit or driving. If driving, give snow–clearing equipment room to do their work. Learn more about travelling in winter weather and staying safe on roads.
If you’re travelling, ensure you are properly dressed in layers, have a source of water and food with you and a fully charged cell phone for emergencies. Also, let a close friend or family member know of your travel plans and route before leaving.
Emergency services, including Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services are responding to emergency calls as they come in. Authorities are urging residents to keep 911 lines clear for life-threatening emergencies only and to avoid unnecessary travel.
Make sure to check your emergency kit so you have everything you need in case of power outages, and remember to charge your cellphone, have a flashlight on hand and review these emergency preparedness tips.
Please bring pets indoors and remember to call Animal Services at 905-896-5858 if you see an animal that is sick, injured or in distress.
Although ice may look solid and it may be tempting to walk, skate or play hockey on frozen bodies of water, they are dangerous. Deep water, weak ice and constantly changing water levels and temperatures make lakes, ponds, rivers and creeks unstable and dangerous. The City is reminding residents to be cautious and stay off frozen bodies of water, for their own safety and to avoid falling through ice. Ice conditions are unpredictable and can vary.
Please continue to monitor the City of Mississauga Newsroom for updates around this evolving weather event.
