MiWay bus service

MiWay is encouraging customers to prioritize travel only if necessary on Monday. Some routes are still experiencing delays due to the weather and the following routes have disruptions:

  • School routes and supplementary school trips are cancelled due to school closures.
  • The 101 Dundas Express and 126 Burnhamthorpe Express are cancelled.
  • The 135 Eglinton Express and 103 Hurontario Express will continue to service all local stops.

Please be patient as snow clearing operations continue at bus stops and platforms. Also, please watch your footing around snowbanks. Remember to dress for the weather, allow extra travel time, and make yourself visible to the bus operator. Visit the MiWay Service Updates page here for information on route delays. Follow updates on @MiWayHelps on X for information on route delays.

Snow-clearing efforts

City crews are still working hard to clean up the snow. Please continue to give crews and equipment space as they work. We appreciate your patience as crews get to all streets, bike lanes and sidewalks.

  • Refrain from parking your vehicle on the road, sidewalk or lower portion of your driveway. Parked cars can prevent crews from clearing the road, sidewalk and windrow.
  • On waste collection days, place your bins away from the curb to prevent them from being hit by plows.
  • Make sure there aren’t any obstacles like sports equipment or lawn ornaments located near the lower portion of your driveway. They can interfere with windrow clearing.
  • Shovel early and often to keep walkways clear and prevent heavy snow from building up. Clearing snow periodically during a storm makes it easier to manage significant accumulation.
  • Where safe to do so, residents are asked to clear catch basins (the square grates on the road) in front of or near their homes of ice, snow and debris to help prevent surface flooding and allow water to drain off the road.
  • When shovelling, remember to clear around your furnace and hot water tank vents. Covered vents can be a carbon monoxide hazard. If you have a fire hydrant on your property, please clear around it so it’s visible to fire crews.
  • Abstain from shovelling snow onto the road when clearing it from your property. It can also prevent proper drainage when the snow melts.
  • Visit mississauga.ca/snow to learn more about snow clearing in Mississauga and use the online plow tracker. Our crews follow a priority route system, which means some roads and sidewalks are cleared before others.

Citywide Winter Parking Restriction

On January 25, 2026 at 2 p.m., the City issued a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction that is currently in effect. So far, there were 569 parking tickets issued because of the Citywide Winter Parking Restriction in place. When a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction is declared, on-street parking is not allowed, except in areas identified by signage (e.g. 15-hour maximum).

All street parking including temporary and residential parking permits will not be issued at this time and current ones will be suspended, except in areas where street signage explicitly permits parking, until further notice.

Snow-clearing updates

Call 311 (905-615-4311 if outside city limits) for questions related to the City’s snow clearing operations. Use the plow tracker to see when your street was last serviced: mississauga.ca/plowtracker.

Visit mississauga.ca/snow to learn more about snow clearing in Mississauga. City crews follow a priority route system, which means some roads and sidewalks are cleared before others.

If you can, lend a hand

Check in on your neighbours and consider offering to help those who may need assistance clearing their sidewalk or driveway, especially older adults, people with disabilities, or those with mobility challenges. Helping a neighbour can prevent slips and falls, support accessibility, and ensure everyone can move safely through their community. Residents are encouraged to look out for one another, if you’re able to lend a hand, consider checking nearby homes to see if support is needed.

Road safety reminders

Stay alert when using our roads whether you’re walking, cycling, taking transit or driving. If driving, give snowclearing equipment room to do their work. Learn more about travelling in winter weather and staying safe on roads.

If you’re travelling, ensure you are properly dressed in layers, have a source of water and food with you and a fully charged cell phone for emergencies. Also, let a close friend or family member know of your travel plans and route before leaving.

Emergency reminders

Emergency services, including Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services are responding to emergency calls as they come in. Authorities are urging residents to keep 911 lines clear for life-threatening emergencies only and to avoid unnecessary travel.

Make sure to check your emergency kit so you have everything you need in case of power outages, and remember to charge your cellphone, have a flashlight on hand and review these emergency preparedness tips.

Please bring pets indoors and remember to call Animal Services at 905-896-5858 if you see an animal that is sick, injured or in distress.

  • Report any downed trees, blocked roadways/sidewalks or safety hazards to 311.
  • Report power outages in Mississauga to Alectra at 1-833-ALECTRA
    (1-833-253-2872) or via X @alectranews.

Stay off frozen bodies of water

Although ice may look solid and it may be tempting to walk, skate or play hockey on frozen bodies of water, they are dangerous. Deep water, weak ice and constantly changing water levels and temperatures make lakes, ponds, rivers and creeks unstable and dangerous. The City is reminding residents to be cautious and stay off frozen bodies of water, for their own safety and to avoid falling through ice. Ice conditions are unpredictable and can vary.
