Citizen appointments on committees

Are you interested in being a citizen member of a City of Mississauga committee? Joining a City committee is a unique opportunity to contribute to your community.

Committees, local boards and authorities

The City of Mississauga is currently seeking citizens to sit on its Committees, Local Boards and Authorities for a term of office until November 14, 2026 for the following committees:

  • Accessibility Advisory Committee
  • Heritage Advisory Committee and it’s subcommittees
  • Committee of Adjustment
  • GTAA Consultative Committee
  • Mississauga Arts Council
  • Mississauga Public Library Board
  • Property Standards Committee
  • Mississauga Appeal Tribunal

Applications will be accepted at a later date in January/February 2023 for the remaining Advisory Committees of Council.

Applicant qualifications

  • Canadian Citizen (Permanent Residents may apply for the Mississauga Public Library Board only)
  • Mississauga resident or business owner
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Must not be a City of Mississauga or Region of Peel employee
  • Must provide proof of full vaccination (two doses) or have confirmation of a creed or medical exemption in accordance with the Volunteer Management Program Standards
  • Additional qualifications may be required for some committees

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, Legislative Services hosted an information session in Council Chambers about the Citizen Member positions for phase one and the application process. Applications will be accepted beginning Thursday, November 24, 2022 until Thursday, December 15, 2022.

Applications received after the deadline will be accepted but will be considered late. We thank all who apply, however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. All personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
