Amending the Public Vehicle Licensing By-law

Summer 2017 Review

During the summer of 2017 Mobile Licensing staff conducted a line by line review of the Public Vehicle Licensing By-law as it affects Taxicabs and Limousines to identify possible amendments that could provide more consistent regulation across the different types of vehicles for hire.

A report on the review (available below) was prepared and submitted to the Public Vehicle Advisory Committee on September 19, 2017. Staff were directed to ask industry members for input on the report.

Licensed Vehicles for Hire

There are a number of different types of vehicles that are available for hire by members of the public depending on their transportation needs. When using a vehicle for hire always make sure that the vehicle is licensed by the City of Mississauga. The municipal licence insures that the vehicle carries proper insurance, meets the standards as set out in the by-law and is operated by a driver who is also licensed.
