  • Buy a taxi owner’s licence privately from an existing owner

Join the priority waiting list

A limited number of taxi owner’s licences are issued each year. If your application meets all of the requirements but the maximum number of licences have already been issued, you can join the priority list to be notified when more licences are issued.

To be added to the priority waiting list you must:

  • Be a licensed taxicab driver who has filed an annual statutory declaration
  • Have renewed your taxicab driver’s licence within 90 days of the expiry date
  • Pay the licence fee of $481 and the annual maintenance cost of $279.11

You can own a maximum of 12 licence plates. If you’ve already been issued a licence from the priority list you cannot re-enter your name.
