Driving Schools and Instructors are licensed under By-law 520-04, as
amended. This By-law requires that those seeking to provide driving instruction within the City
be qualified as Driving Instructors through the Province of Ontario, have appropriate
insurance, use a vehicle that is safety certified and provide a criminal background
check.
These steps provide the consumer with the reassurance that if a school or instructor has a
licence from the City we have already checked to make sure that they are qualified and equipped
to provide driver instruction training.
Before you book any driving lessons be sure to ask whether the school and its instructors are
licensed by the City of Mississauga. If you're concerned that a company may not be licensed to
provide instruction then give the Mobile Licensing Section a call and we will be happy to
check. You should also inquire whether the driving instruction course offered meets the
requirements for fee reduction in your vehicle insurance.
This information is for convenience and quick reference only. For specific information or to
register a complaint contact the Mobile Licensing Section by dialling 3-1-1. (Monday to Friday
from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). If calling outside of City limits, please dial 905-615-4311. For
an emergency after hours, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and on weekends and holidays, please call
905-615-3000.
