The staff in Compliance and Licensing Enforcement respond to complaints relating to
violations of City by-laws including zoning, property standards, fencing, including swimming
pool enclosures, business licensing, littering, dumping, noise disturbances and smoke and
carbon monoxide detectors.
The Compliance and Licensing office is located on the ground floor of City Hall, just inside
the west doors of the tower. Staff are available to receive inquiries and/or complaints
weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
After regular business hours or on weekends, the Transportation & Works dispatch office
is available to receive complaints of an emergency nature at 905-615-3000.
Complaints may be filed by fax, in person, in writing, by telephone or by email using
the link provided below. Please ensure that you include your name, address and telephone
number. Complaints without this information will not be investigated. Your information will be
kept confidential.
Before you complain, did you know that you may also seek resolution to your issue using

Phasing out the penny
Effective February 4th, 2013 the City will discontinue the use of pennies in cash
transactions. When paying for goods and services with cash, transactions will be rounded
to the nearest five cent increment. All other forms of payment such as debit, credit or
cheque will continue to be settled to the cent. Visit www.fin.gc.ca for more information.
